AFROPUNK Festival - Brooklyn, New York, USA

WHAT: AFROPUNK Festival

WHERE: Brooklyn, New York, USA

AFROPUNK is more than a music festival, it's a global movement. Born in Brooklyn and inspired by the 2003 documentary Afro-Punk, the festival celebrates Black creativity, alternative culture, individuality, and community through music, fashion, art, and activism.

What began in New York has grown into an international festival with editions in Paris, London, Johannesburg, and other cities around the world.

More Than Music

Forget genres. AFROPUNK brings together punk, rock, hip hop, electronic, jazz, metal, soul, funk, and global sounds, creating diverse line-ups reflective of the communities it honours and celebrates.

As iconic as the music, is the fashion; bold expression is part of the experience, making AFROPUNK one of the world's most photographed festivals.

A Festival With Purpose

AFROPUNK has always stood for more than entertainment. Through the AFROPUNK Global Initiative (AGI), the festival supports initiatives including volunteer programmes, community projects, youth initiatives, and social action, using music as a platform for meaningful change.

Emerging artists are also championed through Battle of the Bands, helping new musicians earn festival performances and reach new audiences. Each place tells a story. In Brooklyn, AFROPUNK tells one through fearless creativity, unapologetic self-expression, and a community determined to change the conversation.
