Rare Spectacle: Southern Lights to Dazzle Skies Across Much of Australia

The Aurora Australis is set to illuminate skies across mid to southern Australia tonight, thanks to a powerful geomagnetic storm currently sweeping past Earth.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) Space Weather Forecasting Centre has issued an official “aurora watch”, with conditions ideal for a rare and spectacular light show — and visibility possible over the coming hours.
